There is a gross fad that consists of videos showing dandruff scraping. They show people scratching or pick the flacks of dandruff off their head with fine combs or their fingernails. According to dermatologists, they might be people with a condition called seborrheic dermatitis, which is related to an overgrowth of yeast on the skin, and one of the symptoms is a scaly, itchy and red skin on the scalp, face and other areas of the body. If it is dandruff, scraping the skin of the scalp might turn in red can cause an injury, resulting in bacterial infection. This, in turn, will irritate the skin, causing more itchiness, soreness, and dry flakes of skin, resulting in an “itch-scratch” cycle.
