According to a study, transplant of intestinal microbiota and fecal microbiota can help treat hair loss due to alopecia areata. There are bacteria in the intestinal tract that is essential for digestion, but they can be affected by conditions such as Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and even an excessive intake of antibiotics. This process is normally used to restore intestinal microbiota, but it has also been identified for treating alopecia areata. Even though this is an unusual treatment, The tests have had positive outcomes, resulting in new hair growth in the head, face, and arms after 8 weeks. Alopecia areata is an autoimmune condition, which causes an inflammation of the hair follicle.
