Chronic Stress Might Be One Cause Of Gray Hair

Chronic Stress Might Be One Cause Of Gray Hair

Stress Speeds Up The Aging Process, Affecting The Hair Follicles

Gray hair can have other causes, besides elder age. It can be genetics, or it can even be excessive stress. This happens because the hair follicles have pigment cells, which determine the color of hair. As we age, the pigment cells start to die, reducing the amount of melanin. This reduces the color intensity, making the hair transparent, which we see as silver or white hair. Chronic stress has several harmful effects on the body, and one of them is speeding the aging process. Stress hormones may affect the pigment cells, decreasing the amount of melanin, resulting in a gray hair. Click here for more information.
