Researchers Have Identified The Genes That Determine Hair Color And Pigmentation

It Would Help In Treating Certain Types Of Cancer And Even Vitiligo, Which Shows As White Patches Of Skin

Hair color is determined by the pigment of the melanin that covers each strand of hair, which in turn is secreted from cells inside the hair follicles. But researchers have identified the genes related to hair color, and how they can relate to other conditions linked to pigmentation, which include certain types of cancer, and vitiligo, a condition in which there are areas in the skin with no color, shown as white patches. Genes could even aid forensic experts in determining the hair color from a DNA sample. Additional information click here.
